If you’re a business owner, your office is where the magic happens. It’s important that you can focus on your work and not be distracted by plumbing, electrical, or construction issues. We’re a company that understands what customer satisfaction means. That’s your goal as a business owner, and ours as well.
We take a special interest in your long-term success because we live here too. We have years of experience building office projects but we don’t take anything for granted. In every project we undertake, our first goal is to understand your vision so that we can find a way to make it happen.

Spoonflower is a design to print company we’ve worked with before. They allow customers to put any design they choose on a number of high-quality base materials. The company is expanding again and hired us to convert two existing properties into one newly renovated expansion space. Over the years, we’ve established a trusting relationship with Spoonflower and enjoy helping them grow. The new place looks amazing and has a new state-of-the art fire alarm system—a fairly important security feature for print shops. But we weren’t the only ones building things in the new space. Spoonflower installed their own custom manufactured wall covering. Looks great!
As one of the founders of Spoonflower, one of the Triangle’s top 20 fastest growing companies, I recently had the opportunity to work with Imperial Design Builders over the summer of 2015 on the expansion of our offices and manufacturing facility in Durham on Meridian Parkway.
The Imperial team, led by Jay Jenkins, worked with us and with a local architecture firm, Center Studio, to put together a plan to combine two existing vacant suites at 2810 Meridian Parkway and to configure the new space to accommodate all our nonoperational teams, including accounting, engineering, customer service and marketing. The result was a fantastic new space that has been admired and envied by many visitors since we moved in at the end of July.
As a partner in planning and executing this project, Jay Jenkins and his team were outstanding. Jay and his colleagues were always well organized, positive, and brought a cando attitude to even our most difficult requests. They delivered the work on time (even a bit ahead of schedule), on budget and afterward have continued to stand by the quality of the work they performed. Throughout a sometime stressful process, the Imperial team remained affable collaborators who could be relied upon to keep the big picture in mind. By contrast, our landlord hired another firm – larger and better known locally than Imperial Design Builders to manage the renovation of an additional warehouse and production annex for us in another suite at the same time. That project ran late and, in the months afterward, turned out to have included some critical, safety related flaws. That experience provided a dramatic contrast to the work done by Jay and his team, and serves as a reminder to us of the importance of choosing a trusted partner.
As a growing company, Spoonflower will almost certainly have to move again in the next few years and we will not hesitate to reach out to Imperial Design Builders for help with that process. I cannot recommend Jay Jenkins and his team more highly.Stephen Fraser
